Graduation Spotlight: Charli Archie

Charli Archie graduates this May with a master’s degree in Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communications from the Herbert College of Agriculture! After graduation, she would like to continue working as the County Director and Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension Agent in Lake County serving her community and changing the lives of those around her one day at a time. 

Where are you from?

I am from Lake County, Tennessee.

What drew you to the Herbert College of Agriculture and/or UT Knoxville?

When I completed my undergraduate studies, I accepted a job with UT Extension and knew that I wanted to further my education in Agricultural Leadership, so UT Knoxville was the best option for me!

What is your fondest memory and/or proudest moment as a Vol?

My proudest moment as a Vol has been completing my master’s degree while continuing to serve my community. Balancing graduate coursework with the responsibilities of being a County Director and Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension Agent was challenging at times, but it made crossing the finish line that much more meaningful!

What has been your favorite thing about being a Herbert/online student?

My favorite thing about being an online Herbert student has been the flexibility and support that the program provides regardless of whether you are on or off campus.

What was your favorite part about your masters program?

My favorite class I took in my masters program was Servant Leadership with Dr. Carrie Stephens!

Any faculty or staff mentors you want to give a shoutout to?

Dr. Carrie Stephens and Dr. Jennifer Richards was absolutely wonderful to work with! They are kind, encouraging, and very knowledgeable in their work.

How has Herbert and/or UT Knoxville helped prepare you for what comes next?

UT Knoxville has strengthened my leadership skills, expanded my knowledge of effective communication, and helped me grow more confident in my ability to lead and serve others.

What does being a Volunteer mean to you?

Being a Volunteer means serving others with pride, dedication, and a heart for making a difference. It means representing the University of Tennessee in my community and living out the Volunteer spirit by helping others learn, grow, and succeed.
