The Herbert College of Agriculture Dean’s Office has a new team member. Spenser Smith, newly named coordinator for communications and employer relations, began his new role in April. Spenser joins us from Carson-Newman University where he served as assistant director of freshman admissions. He brings to the position an MBA from Carson-Newman, as well as a wealth of experience working with undergraduate students and communications.
Spenser will work closely with individual departments, the UT Career Center, and the College’s many employer-partners throughout Tennessee. He will be the new voice behind Herbert Highlights and the Herbert Chronicle, and he will manage and update the Herbert College website, among many other duties. Additionally, he will be the guiding force behind career fairs and events that benefit our students and connect them to professionals in agriculture and natural resource-related fields. He is excited about joining the close-knit community found within the College, as well as helping Herbert students find meaningful employment after graduation.
When not in the office, you can expect to find Spenser in the great outdoors. He is a self-proclaimed outdoors enthusiast and enjoys hiking, backpacking, kayaking, and a multitude of other outdoor activities. We’re excited to have him in the Herbert family, so please help us welcome Spenser to the Herbert College of Agriculture!
