Alexandra Dement of Nashville, Tennessee, is graduating from the Herbert College of Agriculture with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science and Agricultural Systems. The tight-knit community on the UTIA campus allowed her to explore her academic interests and develop meaningful relationships with peers and professors.
How would you describe your experience in the Herbert College of Agriculture?
My time in Herbert has been some of my best years so far. I have had the opportunity to work closely with my professors and make long-lasting relationships. Herbert’s tight-knit community has allowed me to pursue my academic and professional interests alongside like-minded peers who have truly supported my goals. Herbert is such a special place on campus. I would not trade my experience for anything else.
What was your favorite class, and/or who is your favorite professor?
My favorite class was Statics/Structures with Angela Smith. I can’t pick a favorite professor among Mrs. Smith, Dr. Buchanan and Mr. Parker. They are all amazing.
What is one of your favorite memories during your time at UT?
Rushing the field during the Alabama game. That is a memory I will never forget.
How has being a Herbert student impacted your life?
I would not have had the same opportunity to take part in internships without the support I received from Herbert’s faculty. I have had the chance to live in Atlanta and D.C., all before having graduated. I have a good amount of professional experience that has served me well these past few years and complemented my education in great ways.
What are your plans for after graduation?
I plan to attend Fordham Law School in New York City. I plan to work as an attorney, specializing in construction defect cases on the litigation side.
