A growing awareness of the complexity of water quantity and quality issues related to human activities has led to dealing with those issues on a watershed scale. This minor will help undergraduate and graduate students explore the wide range of disciplines related watershed science/engineering, planning and design, and culture and policy issues.
These skills are especially useful for careers in natural resource policy, water and land management, sustainable development and design for private industry, and storm water management for government agencies. The minor should be added to your Banner profile and courses should be submitted for substitution approval as early as possible, but no later than the beginning of your final semester.
Use the tabs below to learn more about courses required for the undergraduate and graduate minors.
Guidelines for a Watershed Undergraduate Minor:
- The Watershed Minor went into effect starting with the Fall 2012 catalog.
- The Environmental Science and Soil Science concentrations in the Environmental and Soil Sciences major have this watershed minor built into the major. If the minor does not show up in your degree audit or academic history, please contact your advisor.
- Your major and minor must use the same catalog year.
- Contact the undergraduate records assistant in your major department to have them add the Watershed Minor into Banner. Once updated, the next time you run a degree audit, progress in the Watershed Minor will appear.
- All petitions for this minor should be initiated with the student’s major advisor. The signed form should be mailed to your college Watershed Minor coordinator (see information under the “Faculty Advisors” link), who will then forward it to the Herbert Dean’s Office (Ms. Tammy Pass, Morgan Hall, Room 126) for final approval and entry into the Banner system.
Guidelines for a Watershed Graduate Minor:
- The Watershed Minor took effect with the Fall 2012 catalog.
- Students must use the same catalog year for major and minor.
- You should refer to the appropriate catalog year for a detailed list of course requirements for this minor.
- All petitions for course subsitutions should be initiated with the student’s graduate committee.
- You should refer to the appropriate catalog year for a detailed list of course requirements for this minor:
